Common Green Darner dragonfly (female, oviposition)

The following photos show a female Common Green Darner dragonfly (Anax junius) ovipositing eggs on the surface of underwater plants (epiphytic ovipostion). The Common Green Darner dragonfly is the only North American darner that usually oviposits in tandem; some females, like this one, oviposit by themselves. I spotted this individual during a photowalk through the central wetland area at Huntley Meadows Park.
