They’re back!

Great Spreadwing damselflies (Archilestes grandis), that is. This individual is a male, as indicated by its coloration and terminal appendages.

Male Great Spreadwings tend to perch over water and aggressively defend a small territory. I spotted this guy when he and a Blue-faced Meadowhawk dragonfly (Sympetrum ambiguum) faced-off in a brief aerial dogfight.
