Dolomedes vittatus

The following photograph shows a Dolomedes vittatus, a species in the genus of Fishing Spiders.

The spider posed for a few photos before it retreated to the safety of its hidey-hole — a crack in the joint between two concrete water drainage pipes.

Michael Powell spotted the spider during a photowalk with me at an undisclosed location in Fairfax County, Virginia USA. Mike was able to identify the spider with the help of some members of BugGuide.
